New discoveries of the week

Was randonly looking around Youtube. I found this opera piece "Nessum Dorma". Very dramatic piece, made famous by the late Pavarotti, and recently by Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts.

Here's one by the late Pavarotti. This is his last performance before he passed away.

This is another Britain's Got Talent favourite. Cute little girl!!

Random smiles and laughter Part I

I believe we all have seen signs or slogans which makes us smile, or even laugh at the way in which it is phrased. English has managed to have an ambiguity in its syntax, and this brings about many jokes. So, in Random Smiles and Laughter, I attempt to share my smiles (or laughter) in celebration of English ambiguity with my readers.
No Waiting Within Bus Park (taking directly from "Car park").

It has been 3 months...

I haven't posted anything for 3 months. The main reason being, after my last post, my laptop is officially down. So I've been using my brother's computer. Well...I guess because the computer is not mine, it's not personal enough for me to be blogging my thought with it.

Now I have my new lappy, my Fujitsu S6410. It's not bad, just that the plugs are all at the wrong places. I have to bend my wires here and there. (And it seems to heat up easily...)

So now I'm in semester 3. Not bad, but very busy. A lot of readings. Particularly EL3255 (English in Southeast Asia)...I can't understand much. But CL2280 (Basic Translation) is quite fun. :) I'm enjoying it, though not performing well. I have a feeling I won't be able to retain my CAP this semester. :(

Several things happened of course. Some rather shocking. But I guess I'll leave them to the deep nights when I can't sleep to type them out.

By the way, I didn't realize how the movie "Hero" is so beautiful. It's not just cinema, but an art in itself in every scene. And Tan Dun's eerily beautiful soundtrack just adds to its beauty. My only gripe (as with many movies) is that WHY DO THEY HAVE TO INCLUDE A LOVE SCENE INVOLVING ZHANG ZIYI!!!!!!! Though there's no nudity, its suggestiveness is there. Simply gratituos and tasteless. Other than that, Jet Li, Tony Leung and Maggi Cheong are wonderful actors. Even 秦始皇 looks good in this film. Haha.
